Built in the 16th century by the Spanish on the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the old Aztec capital, Mexico city is now one of the world’s largest and most densely populated city. It is a fantastic city that offers a range of activities to people who visit it. From parks, canals, historical sites and museums, there is a lot of tourist attractions to see and many experiences to live in Mexico city. The cultural oriented visitor can visit historic attractions as the Museum of Templo Mayor, the Palacio de las Bellas Artes, the Chapultepec Castle, the canals of Xochimilco and the Our Lady of Guadalupe Basilica ( the largest on the continent) among many others.

Mexico City is brimming with museums – more than 150 of them, in fact – which is no surprise considering its rich historical and cultural past. From the remains of ancient civilizations and a museum dedicated to the drink of the gods to the preserved home of a famous Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky, the country’s capital is bursting with intriguing curiosities. For those who are interested in visiting museums, they can visit the national Museum of Anthropology, the Museum of Memory and Tolerance, the Somaya Museum, the Frida Kahlo museum or the Museum of Folk Art among others.

The capital of the country is one of the favorite destinations for thousands of tourists. Its cosmopolitan personality, cultural, gastronomical and entertainment options makes Mexico city a megalopolis like few others. Day 1: Departure

Arrival, private transfer from the airport to your hotel

Welcome to Mexico City! From the moment you arrive, you will be mesmerized by the size of the city. Meet and greet with a local representative and transfer to your hotel. The country’s capital is a mosaic of contrasts — but most of all it is an experience where all of Mexico comes together.

Enjoy a city tour with visit to Anthropology Museum -depending on your arrival time we can customize your tour.

Visit of Mexico City Downtown — el Zocalo. Mexico City is also known as the Ciudad de los Palacios (City of Palaces). The tour starts in the main square, where the pax will visit some colonial palaces like the Palacio Nacional (actually closed – only to be seen panoramically) , Templo Mayor archeological site (only panoramically), the Metropolitan Cathedral and other beautiful architectural jewels and walk through the main streets. Continue to the Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, its construction was ordered by emperor Maximilian, and where most of the important monuments of the city are located.

Then we will go through Juarez Avenue; we will see La Alameda park and the Palace of the Fine Arts (panoramically), building of the Italian architect Adamo Boari; After that, lunch in a local restaurant, at the end continuation for the visit of the Anthropology Museum, the biggest in Mexico. The building is one of the most beautiful examples of the Mexican contemporary architecture; visit the halls of Mesoamerica –where the origins of the civilizations of old Mexico are shown–, the Teotihuacán room, the Aztec room–where there are some of the most representative pieces of the culture that settled down in the lake of Texcoco, the place where Mexico City was built on–, the Olmec room –the motherculture–, and the Mayan room –to understand the civilization that developed in Southeastern Mexico and part of Central America, and whose greatness has been recognized by specialists worldwide, because of its advanced knowledge in architecture, astronomy.

Day 2: Coyoacan & Xochimilco

In the morning visit Coyoacan & Frida Kahlo combined with Xochimilco & University (half day) private excursion with guide and driver

After breakfast you will visit Xochimilco floating gardens to take a trajinera ride through the water paths, experience the folklore of the zone seeing the many products that are sell in the different boats, in the way back take a stop at the Mexico’s National University, World Heritage by the Unesco, discover the Olympic Stadium covered with a mural done by Diego Rivera, among other buildings with some mural for some of the main Mexican artists.

After Xochimilco, continue in the south part of Mexico City, where the colonial neighborhood of Coyoacan is located, which was formed in the 18th and 19th centuries, the residential area of Mexico where high society used to live in beautiful haciendas at the countryside. Nowadays in this place is possible to visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, known as “La Casa Azul” (the Blue House), former mansion of the famous artist, in the place you can see some of her main house furniture and daily use objects (in the museum there are not paints of the painter).

Shopping Suggestions:

PLAZA DEL ANGEL IN ZONA ROSA Also known as the Mercado Londres, this antique shops center is a concentration of finest shops within the Plaza San Angel, a large pink neoclassical building. You could also pass the best part of the day looking (and buying!) great things at the Mercado Insurgentes. On Saturdays, there is also a flea market where you can buy all sorts of objects and curiosities. On Sundays, bookworms come here to buy and sell their wares. Hours: Mo to Su from 10:00 AM to 07:00 PM

Day 3: Taxco & Cuernavaca

After breakfast enjoy a private excursion with guide and driver to Taxco & Cuernavaca – with lunch -Half Day

Departure to Taxco (approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes drive) this place is at the heart of Mexico's silver region and one of the most representative of the named Pueblos Magicos (magic towns). Explore its cobblestone streets and visit some of its silver jewelry shops, and workshops specialized in the handcrafting of silver, also witness the majesties of Santa Prisca Church, an architectural wonder built in the 18th century. On route visit Cuernavaca (named the City of the eternal spring), due to its wonderful climate, is a pretty colonial city located one hour driving from Mexico City, there is possible to admire the Palace of Cortés (actually the regional museum) and also the city's cathedral, one of the oldest in America. By the afternoon, back to Mexico City.

Day 4: Guadalupe Shrine & Pyramids of Teotihuacan

Guadalupe Shrine & Pyramids of Teotihuacan – Half day Private excursion with lunch

You will be picked up from your hotel and drive to the Basilica of Guadalupe — the most important sanctuary in Mexico. First, you will walk outside the Three Cultures Square, where the main historical periods of Mexico (the pre-Hispanic, Colonial, and the Modern ones) are represented. Visit the new Basilica, where you will discover the original image of the "Virgin of Mexico". This temple was constructed by the architect Pedro Ramírez Vázquez in 1976. The old Basilica can be admired from the great vestibule, dating to the 18th century. In this place, on December 12th, hundreds of thousands of Mexicans get together in pilgrimage to worship the Virgin. Your tour will take you towards Teotihuacán, the "Place of the Gods" situated 53 kilometers away from Mexico City — approximately a one-hour drive. Visit the archaeological site where the Teotihuacán culture settled. Discover the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, the Pyramid of the Sun, the Temple of Quetzal-Papalotl, the Temple of the Plumed Snails, and the Pyramid of the Moon — from this spot the Road of Dead can be seen in all its splendor. Lunch in local restaurant, by the afternoon, return back to the hotel.

Shopping Suggestions: LA LAGUNILLA La Lagunilla market is a fantastic place for those looking for furniture, clothing, toys, records, books, and accessories from the Twentieth century. Arrive early and bring some cash.

LA CIUDADELA This large market is one of the best place in Mexico city to find arts and crafts. We love this place because of the history and the friendliness of the market owners and craftsmen. You can find anything from silver jewelry, lamps, scarfs, Mexicantin ornaments, and also some huichol indian. Open daily 10:30-18:30.
